ABOUT MARY FARRELL

Mary E. Farrell, founder of the Farrell Law Group, is a litigator with 29 years of experience and expertise in representing employers of all sizes and is a frequent speaker on employment law trends. Mary and her team have successfully defended several wage & hour class action lawsuits as well as individual claims. She works closely with clients to develop credible litigation avoidance strategies in high-risk employment disputes as well as daily personnel challenges. Mary has experience handling individual harassment, discrimination and retaliation claims, contract & tort-based employment litigation, whistleblower actions, trade secret litigation as well as class action wage & hour claims.

Mary was selected by her peers for inclusion in U.S. News Best Lawyers in America 2023 in the field of Litigation/Labor & Employment and has received his honor each year since 2015. Best Lawyers is the oldest and most respected peer-review publication in the legal profession. A listing in Best Lawyers is widely regarded by both clients and legal professionals as a significant honor, conferred on a lawyer by his or her peers.

Farrell Law Group has also been named to the 2023 U.S. News – Best Law Firms list and has received this recognition every year since 2017. The Best Law Firms rankings are based on a combination of client feedback, information provided on the Law Firm Survey and the Law Firm Leaders Survey and Best Lawyers peer review.

Mary has been recognized as a 2023 Northern California Super Lawyer and has been awarded this recognition every year since 2009. This recognition is a designation by Super Lawyers Magazine and is the result of peer nomination and evaluation. Each year thousands of lawyers throughout California submit nominations, which are then reviewed and evaluated by a research team established by Super Lawyers Magazine. According to the Journal of Law and Politics, recipients of the Super Lawyer honor represent the top 5% of lawyers in each practice area.

Mary has also been selected for inclusion in Sacramento Magazine’s Top Lawyers list for 2015-2018 and the Sacramento Business Journal’s “Best of the Bar” in 2017-2019. Area attorneys were asked to recommend other attorneys among 53 legal specialties. Each attorney was allowed to recommend up to three attorneys in each given specialty. Each nomination was carefully evaluated on the basis of the survey results, the legitimacy of their license and their current standing with the State Bar of California.

Mary was also selected as a Fellow to the Litigation Counsel of America, a peer-selected, honorary society of 3,500 of esteemed litigators. Comprised of less than one-half of one percent of American lawyers, Litigation Counsel of America is an invitation-only collegial network of attorneys who are vigorously vetted for their skills, expertise and experience.

Prior to forming the Farrell Law Group in 2009, Mary was a partner at Murphy Austin Adams Schoenfeld LLP in Sacramento and was Chair of the firm’s Labor & Employment Practice.

Mary received her law degree with Great Distinction from the McGeorge School of Law in Sacramento in 1994 where she graduated Order of the Coif and was a member of the Traynor Honor Society. She was awarded a bachelor’s degree from California State Polytechnic University, San Luis Obispo, 1990.

Mary resides in Elk Grove with her husband, Craig and together they enjoy skiing, scuba diving, camping, golfing & cycling.
